Blog On, Blog Off

I'm bad. There is no other excuse. I'd like to say I'm back for good but I don't like to lie. Life is just hectic.

Last week, the family was in town. My dad had a convention to attend so my sister and niece decided to tag along. I have to share one funny moment. We all went down to the convention registration together. My dad was chit-chatting with several of the Florida attendees. He turned to introduce one older gentleman to the rest of us. By "older gentleman", I mean that he looked to be in his mid-50's. My dad said "This is my daughter Linda. This is my other daughter Kristy...well, you know Kristy."

After the introductions, I asked Kristy if she knew the gentleman from a past convention. Her response was "I was his Science teacher in junior high school." This floored the rest of us. My sister has definitely aged better than this guy.

Summer Vacation

I haven't been on one but I've been remiss on updating the blog. I've been so busy with tons of little things that I forget to update this site. Over the last week or so, we've:
1. Bought a piano
2. Attended two birthday parties and a pinball party
3. Shuttled Holly to lessons for ice skating, tennis, swimming, hip hop and piano
4. Attempted to get two bids for completing our landscaping
5. Work

And that is how I'm spending my summer vacation.

Friday Funny

This video clip just cracks me up. I don't know what is funnier....Pat White's growling or the complete nonchalance exhibited by his teammates while he's growling.

Are You Smarter Than a First Grader?

Randy, Holly and I were enjoying a fun game of 1 vs. 100 on Sunday evening. I had bought the game for Holly as a replacement for the Geode Creation Set (a whole other story) which was not available.

Holly loves the game 1 vs. 100. It is basically a trivia type game. We were playing as a single team so I guess it was more like 3 vs. 100. One of the questions was something to the effect of "Which of these would you never see on a Rubik's Cube?". The possible answers were:
A) Blue mixed with yellow
B) Red mixed with white
C) Red mixed with yellow

Randy and I were pondering the solution thinking it had something to do with which colors were on opposite sides of the cube. We were ready to resort to cheating by looking at a Rubik's Cube sitting on the counter. Holly shouted out "It's B!" She continued "Red mixed with white makes pink and pink isn't on a Rubik's Cube." Randy and I looked at each other knowing she was right. We had tried to outthink the question.

I'm glad Holly was on our team.

It's Great to Be a Florida Gator

1. It looks like we'll get our beloved Billy back.
2. Two days ago, a good friend of mine (and fellow Gator) gave me a copy of the Sports Illustrated "Year of the Gators" commemorative issue.
3. Yesterday, my piece of the Final Four court arrived.

On an unrelated note: Holly read the "real fact" from my Snapple cap this morning. It said that beavers were once the size of bears. Holly then added "It was a really long time ago. I think it was back in the 1960's."

Tough Act to Follow

I think the new Head Basketball Coach will be able to pick up where the old coach left off. ;)

Bye Bye Billy

Billy Donovan has officially taken the Orlando Magic head coaching position. I know a lot of Gator fans are upset. I'm not. Don't get me wrong. I would love to have had Billy be the coach of the Gators for the next 20 years. It was not meant to be.

I don't think it was about the money. Sure, the money is nice. I could do a lot of damage with $27 million dollars. I really feel like Billy needed to find out if he has what it takes to coach in the NBA. I wish him the best of luck.

I want to welcome the new Gator Basketball Coach, Anthony Grant. At least, he's the guy I'm really hoping to get. I think we'll know if this is the case by Monday.
